On a crisp spring morning, Monday 10th August 2020, approximately 65 people gathered with the Bishop of Christchurch, Right Revd Dr Peter Carrell, to bless the site of the new church building of the Most Holy Trinity Avonside Anglican Parish. This historic moment in, East Christchurch, will rebuild a church building that has been on this site for over 160 years. Included were Archdeacon for Pegasus Revd Katrina Hill, Revd Jill Keir – the present Vicar, Revd Hugh Bowron – who was Vicar at the time of the earthquakes, Poto Williams – MP Christchurch East, clergy from the Diocese and many present and past members of the parish. Plus visitors from the local community. They were joined by the contractors and representatives of the Architect and the project manager from Church Property Trustees.
